My past is far, far behind us. And I\u2019ll do anything to keep it that way\u2026 I used to clean other people\u2019s houses, now, I can\u2019t believe this home is actually mine. The charming kitchen, the quiet cul-de-sac, the huge yard where my kids can play. My husband and I saved for years to give our children the life they deserve. Even though I\u2019m wary of our new neighbor Mrs. Lowell, when she invites us over for dinner it\u2019s our chance to make friends. Her maid opens the door wearing a white apron, her hair in a tight bun. I know exactly what it\u2019s like to be in her shoes. But her cold stare gives me chills\u2026 The Lowells\u2019 maid isn\u2019t the only strange thing on our street. I\u2019m sure I see a shadowy figure watching us. My husband leaves the house late at night. And when I meet a woman who lives across the way, her words chill me to the bone: Be careful of your neighbors. Did I make a terrible mistake moving my family here? I thought I\u2019d left my darkest secrets behind. But could this quiet suburban street be the most dangerous place of all?<\/p>\n

I had to giggle when I saw the quote above in the text. It fit perfectly for this third installment in the Housemaid Series. It was definitely not that great and I think she kind of knew it. There really wasn\u2019t anywhere for this story to go and it really drug on. This didn\u2019t even feel like a thriller for the first half of the book. There was very little suspense, part one was actually really boring. I felt like I was just reading about someone\u2019s every day life. The rest of the book was a little better, murder mystery going on- who is the killer? But to be honest it never really pulled me in. There were no shocking twists, no extreme exciting parts. The one or two twists were somewhat obvious and they were not executed properly- very little suspense. It just felt like an unfinished first draft that should\u2019ve been edited and made better.<\/p>\n

Three stars for this novel. I was able to guess all the twists so it did not catch my attention like the first two did. Is this a necessary addition to The Housemaid<\/em> and The Housemaid\u2019s Secret<\/em>? No. Would I still recommend it to other readers? Yes.<\/p>\n
