Tegan is\u00a0eight months pregnant, alone, and desperately wants to put her crumbling life in the rearview mirror. So she hits the road, planning to stay with her brother until she can figure out her next move. But she doesn\u2019t realize\u00a0she\u2019s heading straight into a blizzard. She never arrives at her destination. Stranded in rural Maine with a\u00a0dead car and broken ankle, Tegan worries she\u2019s made a terrible mistake. Then a miracle she is rescued by a couple who offers her a room in their warm cabin until the snow clears. But something isn\u2019t right. Tegan believed she was waiting out the storm, but as time ticks by, she comes to realize\u00a0she is in grave danger. This safe haven isn\u2019t what she thought it was, and staying here may have been her most deadly mistake yet. And now she must do whatever it takes to save herself, and her unborn child.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How is it that McFadden can create the most insane women and also the most clueless women every but yet make the book still enjoyable? I don\u2019t read her books for their literary merit, but as a fun escape, easy to digest, and stories that keeps me interested. While it\u2019s not my favorite from her, I read it fast and enjoyed it for the most part. The characters weren\u2019t all that likeable if I\u2019m being honest, but the plot was suspenseful enough to keep me entertained. Then we get to the twist. Honestly, with the way things were going I didn\u2019t think there would be one because it didn\u2019t feel necessary. So, when it came out of nowhere, I wasn\u2019t sure if I should laugh at the absurdity (like I do with most of them) or throw the book across the room. It just didn\u2019t feel fitting to me especially because the twist happens and then BAM the book is over.<\/p>\n

I rated this book four stars. I found myself so captivated around until around the 60% mark then honestly it was quite repetitive until the ending after that. I also find McFadden\u2019s books to be a little repetitive, where I can start to guess the ending, though it was still very enjoyable. So, I\u2019m not really sure what to make of it but at least she threw in a little excitement, I guess. In any event, this is a good read but it\u2019s not a book I\u2019ll think of long after reading it.<\/p>\n
