Later, he was paid $16,666 for the rights to the film.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<\/div>\n<p>While Fitzgerald hoped his novel would sell 75,000 copies in 1925, the first printing sold slightly more than 20,0000 \u2014 just enough to repay his publisher.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Jay Gatsby\u2019s lavish mansion was inspired by a couple of real mansions.<\/h3>\n<p>The real-life models included Oheka Castle, in Huntington, New York.
