After months of maternity leave, she will drop her infant daughter off at daycare for the first time and return to her job as a literary agent. Finally. But, when she wakes, her husband Luke isn’t there, and in his place is a cryptic note. Then it starts. Breaking news: there’s a hostage situation developing in London. The police arrive, and tell her Luke is involved. But he isn’t a hostage. Her husband, doting father, eternal optimist, is the gunman. What she does next is crucial. Because only she knows what the note he left behind that morning says…

If you’re looking for non-stop action, this might NOT be the read for you..

The story started out really good but for a good portion of the middle, it fell flat for me. I really wanted to see what was going on so I continued on. It took almost until 90% for it to pick up. It was a character driven book, and throughout it, you’ll get a lot of the inner thoughts and monologue of Cam. Unfortunately, the reason behind Luke’s involvement in the siege and his decision to go into hiding for seven LONG years felt a bit unrealistic and far-fetched to me and it left me questioning the logic of it all and wanting a more compelling explanation.

I rated this novel three stars. I found the story that just dragged on in parts and was also repetitious so I found myself losing interest. However, I persevered, but will easily be forgotten in my mind.

The post Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister appeared first on Book Nook Buzz.

Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister on February 25, 2025 Genres: FICTION / Family Life / Marriage & Divorce, Fiction / Mystery & Detective / Police Procedural, Fiction / Psychological, Fiction / Thrillers / Domestic, Fiction / Thrillers / Suspense, Fiction / Women, Fiction / World Literature / England / 21st Century Pages: 336 Format: […]

[5

post-2394","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
