After years of avoiding each other, Daisy Darker\u2019s entire family is assembling for Nana\u2019s 80th birthday party in Nana\u2019s crumbling gothic house on a tiny tidal island. Finally back together one last time, when the tide comes in, they will be cut off from the rest of the world for eight hours. The family arrives, each of them harboring secrets. Then at the stroke of midnight, as a storm rages, Nana is found dead. And an hour later, the next family member follows\u2026 Trapped on an island where someone is killing them one by one, the Darkers must reckon with their present mystery as well as their past secrets, before the tide comes in and all is revealed.<\/p>\n

This book in a nutshell was boring and really annoying over the top characters that were not at all in my option, believable. This book was almost a smash of three other books all into one that I have read recently. I kind of had an idea how it ended and it would have been a cool twist but it wasn\u2019t fleshed out enough in my mind. I got tired and a bit bored. Then when it got going I think the twist got lost in the rush. It\u2019s one of those that if it stuck to one of the books I read it would be ok but it threw everything in but the kitchen sink.<\/p>\n

I rated this book three stars. The plot didn\u2019t grab my attention until the 50% mark, but it was too little too late. I can\u2019t give a high rating to a book I didn\u2019t have fun reading. The explanations for the murders were so far-fetched, I really had to suspend my disbelief. I didn\u2019t guess the ending here, but I think it was simply because by that point I didn\u2019t really care. And it\u2019s not like it was a twist that hasn\u2019t been done a gazillion times before.<\/p>\n
