I loved this book—easily a 5-star read for me!

Maggie and her sister Lizzie lost their mom at seventeen to a rare blood cancer. Before she died, their mother warned them: women would come for their suddenly single father “like stray cats to an overturned milk truck.” And they did. Maggie and Lizzie did their best to keep the casserole-carrying widows at bay—until one woman managed to worm her way in and nearly destroyed their family.

Now, at 43, Maggie learns she has the same disease. With only months left to live, she’s determined to get ahead of the women who’ll circle her grieving husband—and to find the perfect woman to take her place. The problem? Maggie was voted “Most Likely to Kill Someone to Get What She Wants” in high school… and she hasn’t lost that edge.

This story unfolds in three parts (past, present, and part one), and the first half feels more like a raw, heartfelt family drama than the psychological thriller the blurb promises—but that’s what makes it work. The emotional groundwork sets the stage for the twisty, can’t-look-away second half, and once things pick up, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

This was my first book by Marshall Karp, and now I’m excited to read more—especially his collaborations with James Patterson. Honestly, I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about this book. It’s like if James Patterson and Freida McFadden had a book baby: clever, emotional, gripping, and just the right amount of wild.

Highly recommend for fans of psychological thrillers with real heart and plenty of curveballs.

The post Don’t Tell Me How To Die by Marshall Karp appeared first on Book Nook Buzz.

Don’t Tell Me How to Die by Marshall Karp on March 4, 2025 Genres: Fiction / Thrillers / Domestic, Fiction / Thrillers / Psychological Pages: 361 Buy on Amazon Goodreads This book completely took me by surprise—in the best way possible.
