While it’s connected to Nine Month Contract (which I also enjoyed), you can easily read this one as a standalone—though familiar characters pop in for added fun.

The Setup
This story pairs a grumpy, tattooed mountain man with a sharp-tongued woman who’s loathed him for years. Calder just wanted a casual fling for his brother’s tropical wedding, but thanks to some meddling family, he ends up rooming with Dakota—his sister-in-law’s best friend and his long-time nemesis. Their enemies-to-lovers tension starts sizzling in paradise and follows them back to Calder’s small town when Dakota recruits him as her post-divorce wingman.

What Worked for Me

The Banter – I’m picky about enemies-to-lovers romances, but here, the sparring felt authentic, witty, and genuinely fun. Calder and Dakota’s verbal jabs had me smiling more often than not.

Quirky Side Characters – Just like in the first book, the supporting cast (and yes, the animals) are scene-stealing delights. The meddling family antics add charm without overwhelming the romance.

The Spice Factor – Amy Daws proves once again she’s got serious talent for writing chemistry that’s as playful as it is steamy.

What Didn’t Quite Land
The one sticking point for me was the sex club subplot. Dakota’s over-the-top reactions felt a little unrealistic, especially since no one seemed to think they were unusual. Her role in Calder getting kicked out didn’t sit right with me—it pulled me out of the otherwise believable emotional arc.

Final Thoughts
With humor, heart, and heat, Seven Year Itch delivers exactly what I expect from Amy Daws: a rom-com that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still keeps me hooked. If you like banter-heavy enemies-to-lovers stories, meddling families, and a dose of outrageous situations, this one’s worth packing in your beach bag.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing | Canary Street Press, & Amy Daws for the eARC.

The post Seven Year Itch by Amy Daws appeared first on Book Nook Buzz.

Seven Year Itch by Amy Daws on June 17, 2025 Genres: Fiction / Romance / Contemporary, Fiction / Romance / General, Fiction / Romance / Romantic Comedy, Fiction / Small Town & Rural Pages: 384 Format: ARC, eBook Buy on Amazon Goodreads Amy Daws delivers another wildly entertaining rom-com in Seven Year Itch, the second […]

[5

post-3872","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
