Harper Finch is a mother still grieving the loss of her unborn child. She\u2019s adjusting to her new living situation, having just moved into a former church with her horror novelist husband.<\/p>\n

Caspar Finch immerse himself further into the macabre with each subsequent work. The first outward sign of anything happening is when Harper spies a young girl in the boarded-up farmhouse across the street. She attempts to communicate with the girl, but she disappears as quickly as she appeared. Paranormal events are not abnormal in this small town of Moxahala; many residents believe the town is cursed.<\/p>\n

While Harper is preoccupied with the past, Caspar is obsessed with penning a number-one bestseller. He believes that his new home (Moxie Manor) and its surrounding environment hold the key to his literary breakthrough. Caspar has relied on real-life events of mystery, mayhem, and murder as a literary muse before. However, Caspar\u2019s fascination with the dark side gets scrutinized when the corpse of a fan is found on his property. Caspar\u2019s private investigator also has questions about Caspar\u2019s knowledge of the strange occurrences in Moxahala and whether morbid curiosity or something more sinister motivates Caspar\u2019s literary choices.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The tension rises palpably as Harper and her sister attempt to track down the young girl Harper saw. But Harper\u2019s pursuit only unleashes malevolent forces in her home and in town. Soon, she and her sister are fighting off malicious parasites and unhinged townspeople.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Caspar finds himself a murder suspect in the death of his fan\/stalker, and his troubles are only furthered when the local jail is overrun by something far more terrifying. Caspar and Harper\u2019s church either holds the key to their salvation or demise.<\/p>\n

Ghost from a Yard Sale<\/em> is a strong psychological chiller from the opening pages. The specter of death hangs over the Finch household with the loss of their child, and their new home has seen its own fair share of untimely death.<\/p>\n

A dreading, creeping feeling steadily increases with each chapter as the town of Moxahala reveals the ghosts hiding within its folksy small town setting. Roth does a sterling job of navigating the paranormally strange narrative with Harper\u2019s deteriorating mindset. A horror novel that evokes memories of films like Poltergeist and The Haunting and books like as Needful Things.<\/p>\n

Combining small-town paranormal mystery with a dose of splatterpunk, Ghost from a Yard Sale<\/em> is a riveting piece of horror fiction.<\/p>\n
