What she finds instead is a coffin—and the world’s last vampire. William Pride awakens after nearly three centuries of hibernation, disoriented by the modern world and desperate to locate what remains of his family. As Lorena becomes his guide to contemporary life, William learns that his awakening isn’t a coincidence at all. He may be the key to restoring vampire power, forcing him to choose between protecting humanity—or embracing a dark destiny that could cost him everything, including love.

I went into this knowing it would lean nostalgic, and it absolutely does. The story feels like a throwback to the YA vampire era that dominated a decade ago, and while it doesn’t reinvent the genre, it was still an enjoyable ride. I especially appreciated the Pride and Prejudice references and the atmospheric setting—the author’s descriptions made the manor and surrounding woods feel immersive and moody, like a character all their own.

That said, this landed around a 3.5-star read for me. There are a lot of characters and side plots, and some of those threads felt underdeveloped or lost along the way. The pacing also ran slower than I would have liked, and I think the story could have benefited from being a bit shorter and more tightly edited.

Overall, this is a lighthearted, romantic vampire mystery that will appeal most to readers craving a cozy, YA-style supernatural romance with classic literary nods. While I do think there are stronger entries in the vampire genre, this one was still fun—especially for fans looking to revisit that nostalgic era.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press | Wednesday Books, and Romina Garber for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

The post The Last Vampire by Romina Garber appeared first on Book Nook Buzz.

The Last Vampire by Romina Garber on December 2, 2025 Genres: Young Adult Fiction / Fantasy / Romance, Young Adult Fiction / Vampires Pages: 400 Format: ARC Buy on Amazon Goodreads This boarding-school vampire romance is best described as Pride & Prejudice meets Twilight with a dash of Dracula, wrapped in a distinctly YA package.
