They all care deeply for each other, especially Abe, in and outside of the fire. As you might expect from a novel with a firefighting leading man, fire is a strong theme\u2014not only as a literal danger but as a symbol that runs adjacent to Jack\u2019s journey. It reflects the chaos he steps into at night, the pressure he faces during the day, and the parts of his life that feel like they\u2019re burning out of his control.\u00a0<\/p>\n
