This was classic Simone St. James, full of mystery, history, a little romance, and lots of eerie ghosts. Portis House was a great setting and very unsettling. The house is a person in itself, feeding on the inmates inside. This book was gothic and dark and even though it wasn\u2019t a thriller, it was a historical mystery. I like the unsettling feeling of creepiness that hovered over the house and that each of the inmates had interesting backstories.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not a fan of romance in thrillers, but since this is a mystery it was okay for me. I loved Kitty as a main character, and thought she was a lot of fun. It was easy to get into this book, but it was slow in the middle and nothing much really happened. The ending was great when everything came together, so in the end I gave it 4 stars!<\/p>\n
