I have never read an Agatha Christie novel so was intrigued to see what Lucy Foley could do with it. Unfortunately, I could really not get into this book, the pacing and writing was boring to me. Nothing seemed to happen until 40-50 percent and I was not invested with any character. There are four privileged viewpoints, though I feel like adding that Diana Glass\u2019s chapters do tend to be longer than the others. Miss Marple, as she tends to do, is mainly there in the background until she does her thing. I found the first half of this a bit of a drag. I would say it picks up around the 80% mark, and then it rolls easily to its conclusion fairly entertainingly. Part of the drag is that I don\u2019t think the multiple narrators technique really works here.<\/p>\n

I have to give this novel 3 stars. My biggest disappointment was Miss Marple herself. I was surprised that we never get much of Miss Marple at all, not even her sitting there placidly knitting. While she\u2019s certainly present, she remains on the periphery for much of the story. As a result, the final reveal lacked the satisfying \u201caha!\u201d moment I was expecting.<\/p>\n
