He weaves together the many threads of race, technology, and American history, alongside his own personal history as an immigrant son of Guyana, to clarify the stakes for Blacks as we enter an AI-dominated world. From school segregation to today’s bans on teaching accurate American history, he argues, elite education has remained largely closed to Black students, shutting them out of AI leadership positions. He identifies this as a dangerous political moment in which “the president of the United States asserts that Black people eat dogs, diversity and equity are criminally divisive, and Critical Race Theory is the ideology of radicalized terrorists.” Math and computer science are keys to equity, he argues. He invokes voices—including James Baldwin, Derrick Bell, W.E.B.
