Back in 2022, when I first read The Bodyguard<\/em> by Katherine Center, I actually wrote in my review that I could easily see this book being adapted into a movie because it would make the perfect rom-com. Well, look at that! Here we are in 2026, and it\u2019s happening! With the movie adaptation, Guarding Stars<\/em>, coming out soon, this book is getting some renewed love, and I couldn\u2019t be more excited!<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve read all of Katherine Center\u2019s books, and they are always a win for me. One thing I\u2019ve noticed is that her books tend to follow a similar formula. There\u2019s usually some sort of drama or tragedy, two characters are thrown together, and you just know there\u2019s a match waiting to happen. So, was I surprised by how this story progressed? Not really. But that\u2019s perfectly fine with me because I love how she writes!<\/p>\n

Our leading lady, Hannah Brooks, is a protection agent (aka bodyguard), and life hasn\u2019t exactly been kind to her lately. Her mother has just passed away, and as if that weren\u2019t enough, her boyfriend dumps her the day after the funeral. Oh, and did I mention he also works with her? Super fun, right?!<\/p>\n

Then Hannah gets assigned to protect Jack Stapleton, a hot, hot, HOT Hollywood actor who has returned to Texas to help his mom during her recovery. Jack is dealing with some heartbreak of his own, but he\u2019s also surprisingly down-to-earth and genuinely likable. Seriously, who wouldn\u2019t fall for this guy?!<\/p>\n

With Hannah and Jack spending so much time together, she starts to wonder if his nice-guy personality is the real deal or just another one of his acting performances. Throw in Jack\u2019s quirky family, a little forced proximity, and some great banter, and you\u2019ve got all the ingredients for a fantastic rom-com.<\/p>\n

I laughed so much while reading this book! One of my absolute favorite scenes was when Jack made Hannah prove she was actually a bodyguard. I dare you to read that scene without laughing! And Hannah\u2019s boss, Glenn? Let\u2019s just say I loved the way Katherine Center delivered a little karma his way!<\/p>\n

This book was exactly what I needed when I read it because it pulled me right out of a reading slump. It had the perfect balance of laugh-out-loud moments, romance, and all those feel-good emotions that make Katherine Center\u2019s books so enjoyable. If you\u2019re already a fan of her books, I think you\u2019ll love this one too. And if you enjoy Emily Henry\u2019s style of romance, this would be a great one to pick up!<\/p>\n

I originally gave this one 4.5 stars and rounded it up to 5, and I still think it\u2019s such a fun, heartwarming read.<\/p>\n

And now I cannot wait to see Hannah and Jack come to life on screen! Guarding Stars<\/em> stars Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki, and I\u2019m so excited to see how they bring this story to life. I know the movie is getting a Christmas twist, which makes me even more curious to see how it all plays out!<\/p>\n

If you haven\u2019t read The Bodyguard<\/em> yet, now is the perfect time to pick it up before watching the movie!<\/p>\n
