Despite economic and societal issues, Health-Pro Realty Group (HPRG) continues to thrive in the commercial real estate market. The company specializes in medical properties and helps a wide variety of doctors, dentists, ophthalmologists, and more to acquire and enjoy their property.

Charles and Sherry, a husband-wife team, have produced a compelling introduction to the world of commercial real estate brokerage with this book. Along the way, Charles shares some fascinating stories—both successes and failures—from his life starting, building, and expanding his beloved HPRG. Beloved may seem like a strange word to use when discussing real estate and business, but Charles has a deep love of helping not only medical professionals but the community at large.

The majority of this book is a detailed but not overwhelming overview of commercial real estate brokerage. Charles provides information and insight for new and experienced real estate professionals, because as he says the real challenge lies in consistently applying and refining your skills.” 

He starts at the beginning with the fundamentals and important concepts, terms, and best practices before expanding into the importance of careful expansion and mindful pursuit of clients. After a business is established, keeping clients and expanding is paramount, but Charles reinforces the importance of staying true to a business model aligned with the company’s morality and ethics. Along the way, he pulls from key moments in his life to show where he went wrong, what he did right, and what the lessons of both taught him moving forward.

While the book is clearly marketed and aimed at real estate professionals, Charles offers an endearing autobiographical narrative alongside pearls of wisdom applicable to any field. Much of his successes in life come from the patience of his wife. While both help each other, Charles relies on her calm presence to mitigate some of his fiery reactions. 

The mindfulness aspect of his life is one of those glittering pearls. He encourages the consideration of decisions and impact on people—not only those involved in the business transaction but the patients and people who live nearby. “Integrity, empathy, and professionalism will define your legacy and build trust.” In sharing his journey of hard work and passion, Charles slips in information that could help any business owner succeed and be a positive change in the world.

Our Love Affair with Commercial Real Estate lays out a detailed and actionable blueprint for succeeding in a commercial real estate career. Just as Charles explains, the advice isn’t limited to his specific niche in the market; much of the book is applicable to most business professionals.
