Even though I don’t usually reach for YA or dive into the K-drama world, Falling for Korea completely pulled me in from the first chapter. Piper Jean—who happens to be a local author from my town!—delivers a heartfelt, emotional story that feels both fun and deeply personal.

The book follows California teen Sydney, who’s unexpectedly sent to Seoul to live with wealthy godparents she barely knows. What begins as a confusing and frustrating situation turns into an eye-opening journey as Sydney navigates a new country, a mysterious family backstory, and a slow-burn romance with the guarded but swoony Kim Chul.

I loved watching Sydney come into her own—especially as she found the strength to stand up to people who underestimated her, including her uncle. And Chul… let’s just say he had me from the moment he pretended not to care while totally falling for her. His protective instincts, his quiet vulnerability, and how he loved Sydney for exactly who she was—those moments made this story shine.

There’s not much spice, so it’s a safe and sweet pick for teens, but the emotional depth and relationship development make it just as meaningful for adult readers. The ending left me a little heartbroken but also hopeful, which is the best kind of ending if you ask me.

Beautifully written and full of emotion, Falling for Korea is a standout YA romance that fans of heartfelt coming-of-age stories will love. I can’t wait to see what Piper Jean writes next.
