“The dead don’t rest when justice hasn’t been served.”

Meghan, Brecia, and Skye share only one tragic connection—they were all murdered by the same man.

James Carson appears online as the perfect date: charming, handsome, and trustworthy. But behind the fake names and curated dating profiles lies a serial killer. He’s already gotten away with murder three times. He’s married. He has two daughters. And he’s still hunting.

But his victims aren’t done fighting.

Though dead, Meghan, Brecia, and Skye find each other in the afterlife. Together, they refuse to rest until they stop him from killing again. Their presence lingers—flickering lights, cold chills, shattered bulbs—as they desperately try to warn the next targets before it’s too late.

This was one of those intense thrillers that completely consumes you. I picked it up because of the gorgeous new painted-edge edition (because who can resist a pretty book?!), and ended up devouring it in just two sittings. If I had waited one more day to start, I would’ve finished it in one.

The story alternates between:

Meghan – excited for a date with a Chris Hemsworth lookalike from a dating app… until the night turns into a nightmare.

Brecia – leaves a date early after a bad gut feeling, ghosts him, and is then bombarded with abusive texts—until she hears her name whispered outside her house.

Skye – a college-bound barista who crushes on a regular customer, unaware she’s stepping into danger.

Their stories intertwine through one name: James Carson.

What had me most on edge was the powerlessness of these women as ghosts—able only to flicker lights, drain batteries, or cast shadows—while helplessly watching other women fall into his trap. It’s chilling, emotional, and surprisingly empowering as they band together to fight back from beyond the grave.

Why You Should Read It

Fast-paced thriller you can’t put down
Supernatural twist on the serial killer trope
Emotional and haunting female camaraderie
Perfect for fans of The Lovely Bones meets true crime

This is the kind of story that lingers long after the final page. And yes—I’m now officially diving into Noelle Ihli’s backlist.

Thank you to NetGalley & Kensington Publishing for an advanced eArc of this fast paced thriller.
