Honeymoon Phase, the third installment in Amy Daws’ Mountain Men Matchmaker series, is hands-down my favorite of the series so far. This book delivers everything you want from a friends-to-lovers romance—slow-burn tension, heartfelt moments, and a chemistry that sneaks up and hits you right in the feels.
The story follows Luke and Addison “Roe” Monroe, lifelong best friends whose relationship gets a dramatic twist when Roe decides she needs to get married to inherit her family’s lumberyard. Her plan? Husband-hunt at a lumberjack competition. Luke’s reaction? She’s lost her mind. And since he can’t stand the idea of her ending up with some random ax-wielding stranger, he steps in with a desperate but adorable solution: Call him Lumberjack Luke. What starts as a marriage of convenience quickly becomes a test of everything they’ve never said out loud.
Luke’s character arc is such a joy to follow. Watching him grow—and watching how deeply he loves and protects Roe—makes the romance feel incredibly tender. I don’t usually gravitate toward the friends-to-lovers trope, but Daws executed it so perfectly that I’m honestly ruined for other versions of it. Add in the marriage of convenience and forced-proximity angles (two of my absolute favorites), and this story becomes irresistible.
The spice takes its time to simmer, but once it hits in the last part of the book, it’s both sweet and deliciously spicy—totally worth the wait. And I can’t write a review without mentioning Everly, the matchmaking niece who continues to steal every scene. She brings so much charm and humor to the series, and she remains one of my absolute favorites.
Honeymoon Phase is heartfelt, fun, swoony, and beautifully written. Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the opportunity to review this delightful romance.
