Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can’t seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a “take me home” look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker’s owner reaches out. He’s a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back. Well, Sloan’s not about to give up her dog without a fight. As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can’t deny a connection. There’s no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?
This second book in the series focuses on Kristen’s best friend Sloan, reeling from profound grief after losing her fiancé. I obviously had high expectations with this book because the first one was really good, but this one? OMG, I can’t even find the right words to explain how beautifully written this book was! This book made me laugh, made me smile, and, I’ll admit, made me cry in my office when I was finishing the book during my lunch. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy Jimenez’s books and the immense amount of heart she imbues them with.
Wonderful 4.5 stars for this novel. This book was exactly what I needed this month. We get a swoon worthy romance, an adorable dog (I loved Tucker!), laugh out loud friendship, witty banter via flirty text messages (so fun) well placed angst, emotional drama and some serious steam.
