Even though it’s January, Good Spirits is absolutely worth talking about. This was one of those reads that surprised me in the best way—I really liked it, and it only strengthened my desire to dive deeper into B.K. Borison’s backlist.
A paranormal romance wasn’t something I knew I needed in December, but Good Spirits completely won me over. The holiday setting adds a cozy, magical backdrop, while the story itself leans into reflection, connection, and the idea that moving forward sometimes requires looking back. Nolan, the Ghost of Christmas Past, expects another routine haunting, but his unexpected connection with Harriet turns his assignment into something far more meaningful. Harriet, a chronic people pleaser who’s always trying to do the “right” thing, is faced with examining her past in ways she never anticipated—and the emotional journey that unfolds feels tender and sincere.
What really worked for me was how effortlessly the romance blended with the paranormal elements and holiday charm. The story feels warm, heartfelt, and just a little bit magical, making it perfect for winter reading—even after the holidays have passed.
If you’re looking for a cozy romance with a paranormal twist, or if you’re already a fan of B.K. Borison, this one is well worth picking up. It certainly made me eager to read more from her backlist, and that alone says a lot.
