I always love a Katherine Center book, so I dropped everything to read The Shippers the moment I got my hands on it—and I’m happy to report that it absolutely delivered.

Right from the author’s note, Center tells us exactly what kind of story this is going to be: a happily-ever-after romance. “This book will end well.” Some readers might not love knowing that up front, but honestly? It only made me want to dive in faster. There’s something deeply comforting about settling into a story when you know you’re in safe hands.

Yes, the plot is a bit predictable—but in the very best way. This is a sweet, feel-good romance that leans into all the tropes we’re here for, and it does them well. Childhood friends-to-lovers, forced proximity, fake flirting, unresolved heartbreak? Sign me up.

The cruise ship setting paired with a destination wedding was done so well. It felt fun, fresh, and perfectly contained, with just the right amount of chaos and romance bubbling under the surface. JoJo was easy to root for—especially knowing she had the courage to walk away from a marriage she didn’t truly want. I really appreciated that part of her character.

And Cooper? Total book boyfriend material. Always showing up, always rescuing JoJo when she needed it most—I couldn’t help but fall for him right along with her.

One of the sweetest subplots for me was JoJo trying to help her dad win her mom back. It added so much heart to the story and gave the romance extra emotional depth beyond just the main couple.

All in all, The Shippers worked for me. It was charming, swoony, heartfelt, and exactly what I want from a summer romance. If you’re looking for a comforting, happily-ever-after read that feels like a warm breeze and a vacation you don’t want to end, this one belongs on your list.

Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for the wonderful copy of this eArc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
