Darling Daffodils Farm is a grumpy–sunshine, rivals-to-lovers romance set on a charming daffodil farm that delivers equal parts heart, sass, and spice. While this one started a little slow for me—and I’ll admit I was initially pretty frustrated with a few of the characters—the story really came together once their backstories started to unfold. As the layers peeled back, I found myself understanding their motivations much more, and by the halfway point I was completely hooked.
Tally Darling returns home to her family’s flower farm expecting familiarity, but instead finds Jesse Walker—grumpy, gorgeous, and somehow living in her childhood bedroom while running her late father’s business. The tension between them is immediate, and while the grumpy/sunshine trope can sometimes be hit-or-miss for me, it worked really well here. Tally’s fiery personality and sharp sass were the perfect match for Jesse’s broody attitude. And Jesse Walker—aka “Cowboy”—might be moody, but once we get to see the protective soft side beneath that tough exterior, it’s impossible not to swoon.
The flower farm setting adds such a cozy charm to the story, while still delivering some seriously spicy moments (a flower farm with spice? Yes please ). I also loved the family dynamics woven throughout both Tally and Jesse’s stories—it gave the romance extra depth and emotional weight.
What started as a slower read quickly turned into one I couldn’t put down. If you enjoy grumpy heroes, spirited heroines, and a romance that blossoms alongside a small-town setting, Darling Daffodils Farm is definitely worth picking up.
Thank you to NetGally, G.P. Putnam’s Sons, and Brittanee Nicole for this charming and spicy eARC.
