If you’re looking for a slow burn romance full of tenderness, yearning, and all those feel-good emotions, this is absolutely the book for you.
Happy Ending is definitely more of a friends-to-lovers story than a sweeping passionate romance, and honestly, that’s what made it feel so real. Thea and Alex’s relationship builds so naturally over time that I tore through this book just waiting for all the moments I knew were coming. That anticipation and emotional payoff had me completely invested.
Alex was easily the standout for me. Patient, kind, emotionally mature… and a chef? I was practically yelling at Thea to LOCK HIM DOWN already. Their connection felt grounded and believable in a way that made the story hit even harder emotionally.
I also loved how tender this book was with its characters and their emotions. Between the complicated divorces, friendship dynamics, family relationships, and even the dog custody situation, everything felt relatable and human. Chloe Liese really knows how to write characters with so much heart.
That said, the reason this wasn’t quite a full 5 stars for me is because I personally wanted just a little quicker movement and a touch more passion. But honestly, the slower pace probably made the romance feel even more authentic in the long run.
Overall, this was warm, heartfelt, and deeply emotional in the best way. I can’t wait to see what Chloe Liese writes next.
