When I need a break from emotionally and mentally demanding reads, I turn to something incredibly entertaining, fast-paced, and consumable in one sitting – something with never-ending twists that amaze you. For that, I always choose Freida McFadden! Yes, the book starts a bit creepy with characters getting trapped in a house out of nowhere, featuring a husband with temper issues raising red flags, and introducing the missing psychiatrist Adrianne, who seems like a rather dislikable character you might roll your eyes at. But you keep reading because of the intriguing mystery, knowing deep in your heart that McFadden will hit you with an amazing twist, leaving you screaming at the pages and cursing yourself for being fooled more than twice – shame on you!
Another four stars for Freida! While it starts somewhat questionably, the book takes an unexpected turn in the second half and keeps you on your toes until the end, leaving you without nails. It’s a great wild ride, and McFadden never disappoints! Grab your popcorn, nachos, or whatever munchies you plan to devour with your favorite cocktail, get comfortable in your favorite seat, cancel everything, put your husband on mute, and enjoy every bit of it!
