IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK.
This was my first Clare Mackintosh novel and WOW! I will be reading a lot more from her! This book was AMAZING! Go in bling with this one, because it’s most definitely not what you think! My mouth literally dropped open in shock as it’s so unanticipated. This is utterly gripping, twist comes after twist and they’re really good ones. It barrels and turns this way and that, it’s topical, thought provoking and disturbing as it propels its way to a chilling end. The plot is clever and layered, making you doubt everything and everyone. I love it when a book can do that and still work. It is twisty but realistic. With multiple points of view, there is never a dull moment.
Five BIG stars for this novel. I’m used to my thrillers coming with their inevitable twists, but this one came with some cracking ones! Don’t think for one minute you know what’s going to happen because, like me, you probably won’t have a clue where it’s going! This book held me spellbound. It is superbly paced, it has believable, credible characters, and is, in short, a brilliant story, told by a writer who is at the very top of her game. Highly recommended.
Thank you NetGalley for my advanced copy of this novel!
